Grade 3 Supply and Reading Lists - 2008 / 2009

 

1. Summer Reading Books (a completed “Story Report” for each book due September 5, 2008).

 

1)      My Father’s Dragon by R. Gannett

2)      Freckle Juice by Judy Blume

3)      The Gadget War by Betsy Duffey

 

These books are available at Barnes and Noble of Yonkers on Central Avenue

 

2. Please provide your child with the following: (All supplies are due no later that September 8, 2008. These items should be replenished as needed throughout the school year.)

 

1 soft pencil case containing:

 

4	Sharpened pencils (no mechanical pencils or sharpeners permitted)
1	Eraser
1	Ruler (6 inches)
1	Box of colored pencils (no crayons permitted)
1	Glue stick (no liquid glue permitted)
1	Child’s pair of scissors
2	Red pencils

 

 

     

5	Book Sox (jumbo size, to cover 5 text books)
Clear peel and stick laminate (Contact paper) <see Note #2 below>
6	Black marble notebooks which must be 100 sheets – 200 pages
1	Merriam-Webster Pocket Dictionary (2006 edition or later)
1	Pack of multiplication flash cards
3	File folders without pockets (without your child’s name printed on them)
2	Two-pocket folders
1	Box of tissues (250/280 count)*
1	Box of baby wipes*
1	Package of wide ruled looseleaf
$2.00 in an envelope for handwriting book (must  be purchased from school supply room)
$4.00 in an envelope for homework planner (must be purchased from school supply room)
$5.00 in an envelope for annual Scholastic News subscription

 

      *Another box of tissues and wipes will be asked for in January, if needed.

      ** Construction paper and/or baby wipes will be asked for at a later date, if needed.

( 1 )           Review all addition and subtraction fact families 0 – 20

( 2 )           Cover all soft cover books with clear contact paper

( 3 )           Put your child’s name on all school items, except the three file folders
