Grade 5 Summer Reading List
All incoming fifth graders must read at least 3 books during the summer vacation. You are encouraged to read more. The required books for 5th grade are:
· From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsberg and
· Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli.
Choose a third book that is grade appropriate (at least 150-200 pages). You will be tested on these books in the fall. You should take notes in the margins of the book as you read and keep a list of the characters on the inside of the front cover.
Please purchase A Long Way from Chicago, by Richard Peck, as the class will read it during September.
