Since 1913, St. Barnabas Elementary School has educated the youth of its neighborhood, fostering a strong community both in and outside the school, including a close relationship with St. Barnabas Parish, Community Center and High School. Located near Van Cortlandt Park and bordering on the Bronx/Westchester boundary, our student body hails from all over this extended neighborhood.
St. Barnabas School prides itself on its family approach: we are a family and neighborhood school, offering an inclusive environment in which diversity is respected and celebrated. We provide excellent academics in a safe environment and a values-based education that encourages our children to use their talents in service of others.
St. Barnabas focuses on educating the whole child – mind, body and soul. Enrichment courses in music and the creative arts augment the curriculum and develop students’ interests. All students utilize technological resources integrated into their classroom learning, and visit the library once a week for research and reading. Students have regular access to the gym, playground and sports programs to promote healthy habits and fitness.
The St. Barnabas Elementary School family ensures its students grow with integrity, and leave the school prepared for high school and beyond. Our students go on to attend top high schools in the community, using the skills and values developed at St. Barnabas to forge fulfilling, bright futures.
